CoD4: Modern Warfare Mod Tools SDK Released

Tag: Call of Duty 4NightCrawler @ 3:28 pm

cod4mwlcepc.jpgCurrently, Cod4 Mod tools are only supported for the English version of the game!

Activision has released the English version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Mod Tools, a package which allows you to create modifications for this popular first person sequel developed by Infinity Ward. Note that CoD4 Mod Tools requires your video drivers and DirectX to be up to date. For certain applications to work correctly a DX9 video card is required, even though the game itself will run on a DX8 video card. The CoD4 Mod Tools do not work in Windows Vista, although some users have reported some success running them in Windows XP Compatibility Mode. You can download the SDK from several sites including Fileshack, FilePlanet, and GamersHell. Infinity Ward has also launched their own Wiki-style web site to help (unofficially) with the use of the game’s map editor.  {Thanks! GamersHell!}

CoD5: We Don’t Want WWII Again – We Want This

Tag: Call of Duty 4NightCrawler @ 11:56 am

call_of_duty_4_modern_warfare.jpgRumour has it that the next game in the awesome Call of Duty series will be taking a step backwards, returning to the over-used World War II setting after its glorious foray into contemporary conflict with the 10/10-rated Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It seems an illogical step, but when you consider that CoD3’s developer Treyarch is back in the saddle as opposed to Infinity Ward, and that a Pacific location has been hinted at, it all starts to sound more and more likely.

We really, really don’t want to see that happen – not only because the WWII scenario is now as interesting as grandad’s old war stories (and just as frequently told), but because we’ve yet to see some of the best real-world weapons in the series. No, not ‘vintage’ weapons – but those from the cutting edge of arms development. We’ve had a dig around the net to bring you the future of Call of Duty as we see it. After all, which would you rather use in your shooting games? A crappy old Tommy gun, or a state-of-the-art military prototype? Thought so. Check these babies out…

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 1st Impressions

rainbowsix-vegas2-logo.jpgTom Clancy’s elite agents return to Sin City for the second Rainbow Six: Vegas. We interrogated the development team and got a first look at the game.

The first Rainbow Six: Vegas was a smash hit for Ubisoft in late 2006, winning over the critics and topping the chart with relative ease. While it paired a fantastic single-player mode with rewarding multiplayer action, it was the spectacular location that really caught the imagination. With so many fans still playing the game over a year later, a sequel was a sure thing; thus, Ubisoft Montreal is readying it for release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in March 2008.
